Your Pets In Heaven

To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head,
fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.
For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.

I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived,
loved and touched each others lives.
My life was fuller because you were there, not as a master/owner, but as my FRIEND.

Today I am as I was in my youth.
The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the
Sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures.
I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth.
There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging.

We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.
You live in our hearts as we do in yours.
Companions such as you are so rare and unique.
Don't hold the love that you have within yourself.
Give it to another like me and then I will live forever.
For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

Hands reach out to touch a noble head finding only empty air.
I know you are here, I can feel your presence, I can smell your scent.
I talk to your like before, there is no answer.
I open the door to exit, there is no use, the pleasure is gone.
I touch your favorite toys and hold them to my bosom.
Gentle tears slide down onto the well loved treasures.
I feel you, I know you are here.
Days go by and still no relief from this unmeasuerable pain.
Will it ever end?
Many days pass and one day I think of you and some joy you gave to me.
I remember how much we enjoyed just being together.
I remember and laugh at the antics you performed just for me.
One Day I think about how much I miss having you be part of my life.
Another day dawns and I realize that you were sent to me to teach me that I can love.
I can love with great capacity.
I realize that this love you taught me was meant to be shared.
The loss is still great but the pain has eased.
Today I am ready to honor your memory, laugh, cry
and celebrate your life and all that it meant to both of us.
Tomorrow, I may find another friend to lavish my affection
on with the realization that that is why you came to me.
The future is not promised, we must live for today.
That is what you taught me.
Love hard, love fast but most importantly....Love.......
My heart is open and ready to encompass another wise and gentle soul meant just for me.
Come Greyhound come.
My heart is ready, ready to remember, ready to honor and ready to love again.
